Patrick Buchanan

Patrick obtained his MSc in Stem Cells and Regeneration from the University of Bristol in 2023. His research focussed on immune-mediated vascularisation of 3D bioprinted GelMA tissue constructs and was funded by New Harvest and Robert Downey Jr’s Footprint Coalition. He then obtained an internship with the cultivated meat CDMO Extracellular, working on serum-free media development and industrial-scale mammalian cell culture. Patrick joined the Armstrong Group as a Health Sciences MRes student in October 2024 to work on a project printing conduit grafts to treat pediatric congenital heart disease.

Mia is a student at the University of Bristol since September 2021 and has completed 3 years of her undergraduate MBChB medical degree. She has an interest in multiple fields of medicine including orthopaedic surgery. Before studying medicine, she completed an internship at IVF Lebanon in 2021, where she gained experience in different assisted reproduction laboratory techniques. Mia joined the Armstrong Group as a Health Sciences MRes student in October 2024 as an intercalated year of her medical studies. She is working on a project developing new double-network bioink formulations for bone tissue engineering.
